Why do Connect Groups exist? Community Church is a large church that will continue to grow week after week. If you wanted, you could slip in and out each weekend, and never connect with the heart of our church. However, we believe life is not meant to be lived alone, and that life change happens not just in rows, but also in circles.
Therefore, we’ve specifically designed our Connect Groups to help a large church feel small. When you join a Group, you have the opportunity to build lasting relationships, study God’s word, pray for one another, and apply Biblical principles to the challenges we face in daily life.
Connect Groups exist to bring people together and then help them grow.
What are Connect Groups?
A Connect Group is an intentional gathering of people where you can connect with others on a regular basis who share your interests, who are at a similar stage in life, or who have experience in an area where you would like coaching and/or support. Our groups are categorized into four areas:
Life/Social: our most popular groups where you meet with people in a similar stage or station of life as yourself. Couples meet with couples, singles meet with singles, people of similar ages meet, but also groups where age/marital status doesn’t matter at all. You pick the one you’re comfortable with.
Study: these groups meet for the specific purpose to study or research a book of the Bible, or some other related subject. If you want to dig deep into the Word of God, these are the groups for you.
Activity: these groups are organized around a specific activity that people enjoy and want to share…tennis, cooking, couponing, outdoor sports, etc. Have something you love to do and don’t see a group that covers it?...then start a group. See link below on leading a connect group.
Support/Resources: these groups are for those who are in need of specific support and need coaching or encouragement. These groups include personal finance help, job search support, abused or abandoned women, Lyme disease support, and many others.
Why should I join a Connect Group?
It is through doing life together that our problems become smaller and God uses others to bring healing, support and encouragement to our lives—whether we realize we need it or not. Your Connect Group will quickly become a place where others don’t just know your name, but care about what is happening in your life.
How often do Connect Groups meet?
Our Connect Groups meet for three semesters a year—spring (13 weeks), summer (6 weeks), and fall (13 weeks). During the semester, most groups meet once a week. Connect Groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life so even if you can’t attend every single meeting, there is still great value in joining a group.
We know that people’s schedules are busy, but that most people can make a 13 week commitment. This gives you an opportunity to join a Connect Group, meet some great people, grow in your faith, and then decide if you want to stay with that group or try a different one.
